The Hatch Shell in Boston hosts free live music throughout the summer months
Special Summertime Boston Music Venues
Boston is a great to live music town all year round, but in the summertime, special outside venues provide concert-goers
with the sea, breezes to go along with the lovely sounds – many of them free!
Rowes Wharf is home to The Blues Barge, compliments of The Boston Harbor Hotel’s Intrigue Cafe, from the last week in June through the end of August. Enjoy a bite to eat at the outside seating of the Café or enjoy free seating on the steps (with complimentary pads) as you listed to Soul on Tuesdays, Classic Tunes on Wednesdays, and Blues on Thursdays From 6 to10 PM.
The Hatch Shell along the banks of the Charles River is most well known as the venue that hosts the annual Boston Pops orchestra Fourth of July celebration. But almost every weekend in the summer you can enjoy an outdoor concert at the Hatch Shell in Boston for free! The Oldies 103.3 Free Summer Concert Series generally takes place on Saturday evenings, The Boston Landmarks Orchestra performs classical music on Wednesday evenings, and with several specials sprinkled in between. Generally starting at 7 PM. Bring a blanket or chair with you to relax and enjoy the free concerts in the Ellipse.
Boston City Hall Plaza hosts a series of special concerts throughout the summer. Free summer concerts will take place Wednesdays at 7 PM.
The Bank of America Pavilion on the Waterfront is a spectacular and loved venue. From June through August, the biggest stars will be coming to Boston. This year, we’ll have great acts, including Ringo Starr and His All-Star Band, Foreigner, Pat Benatar, and Chicago. Evenings. For details, see
